By bike through the Bluntau Valley

The bike tour through the Bluntautal is an absolute highlight in terms of landscape. The valley is bordered on the right and left by two mountain ranges, each is more than 2000m high. In the valley, the river “Torrener Ache” was dammed up in two enchanting, crystal-clear fish ponds. Unfortunately, bathing is not allowed here for understandable reasons. Nevertheless, the valley enchants its visitors at any time of the year with unique lighting moods.

Golling can be easily reached by train from Salzburg and so our climate-friendly bike tour starts at the train station in Golling. The tour follows a gravel road or a few gravel paths through the valley, and with about 50 meters in altitude it is easy to manage even for small cyclists.

If you want and still have plenty of reserves, you can extend the tour to the upper Jochalm – but then the easy tour becomes a very demanding tour with up to 900 meters of altitude difference 😉 .

Via the Ischlerstrasse to eat ice cream in Eugendorf

The Ischlerstrasse from Salzburg Sam in the direction of Eugendorf is a real classic. On the former route of the Ischlerbahn, a paved cycle path with a gentle incline leads towards Eugendorf. A good introductory tour on the Ischlerstrasse ends, for example, in the commercial area in Eugendorf, where you can eat ice cream. If you have a lot of power in your calves, you can also drive to the Wallersee on the route and treat yourself to a nice swim there.

From Mozartplatz to Hellbrunn to the adventure playground

The perfect bike tour for sightseeing enthusiasts in Salzburg. We start in the old town, via Mozartplatz and follow the Salzach cycle path to the Künstlerhaus. From there, take the Alpenstraße in the direction of Nonntal, past the Nonntal campus and into the Freisaal recreation area. Past the NaWi you follow the bike path to the south. Now just cross one street and we’re already in Hellbrunner Allee. From here it goes without traffic to Hellbrunn. Hellbrunn Palace awaits you there with ice cream, fries, an adventure playground, historical trick fountains and culture. Incidentally, the Salzburg Zoo is only a stone’s throw away from Hellbrunn Palace.

Abtsdorfer See from Freilassing

The bike tour with children to the Abtsdorfer See near Freilassing requires a little stamina, so for the smaller self-cyclists you should (also) take the trailer or at least a tow rope with you.
We start the tour at the Salzachseen in Lehen or alternatively at the train station in Freilassing, if you want to shorten something. We ride along the Salzach and Saalach on the Mozart cycle path in the direction of Freilassing. From there we follow the cycle path via Saaldorf and Steinbrünning to Abtsdorf. In summer you should not forget to pack your towel and bathing suit on this tour, the Abtsee is also great for swimming.

Length: approx. 35 km
Duration: approx. 3-4 hours
Elevation: 150 m in altitude
Suitable for bicycle trailers: Yes, also without suspension.
